Jim Otvos founded Liposcience to commercialize NMR technology, developing the automated Vanta analyzer which received FDA clearance in 2011. LabCorp acquired Liposcience in 2014 for financial reasons, subsequently halting the distribution of Vanta machines to other laboratories.
